Éire Óg Corra Choill 3-04 Ardclough 1-04

A Tracey Johnson inspired Éire Óg Corra Choill strike for crucial goals to defeat Ardclough in the Junior Camogie League Division 3 Cup Final at Moorefield.

After quiet opening ten minutes Éire Óg C.C. got the scoring underway, Eimear Delaney pointing a free after Aisling Delaney was fouled.

Éire Óg C.C. were in control of possession in the Ardclough half and putting heavy pressure on their opponents defence.

Ardclough survived this test however but another pointed free from Delaney added to Éire Óg C.C.’s score total midway through the half.

In a keenly contest affair, Ardclough suddenly snatched the lead.

Emer Tyrell sent an indirect free towards the Éire Óg C.C. square and Fidelma Byrne finished it to the net.

Tyrell then scored another free and Ardclough were on a roll.

Two quick goals though would rock Ardclough’s chances just before half-time.

Firstly Caroline Murphy sent in a long ball into the danger area, Ardclough keeper Diane Brogan kept out the initial ball, before Amy Fitzsimons finished the ball to the net.

Ardclough were hit with another goal seconds later, Tracey Johnson taking on the Ardclough defence to fire to the roof of the net from 21 metres.

Ardclough started the second half brightly with some well worked attacking play.

Tyrell got another point from a free but Éire Óg C.C. were to strike for goal once more. Their third goal came from Eimear Delaney who got the final touch after an initial effort by Michelle O’Driscoll.

Tyrell added another point, this time from play, as she tried to keep her team in contention but Éire Óg C.C. managed to keep a hold of their buffer.

The game slowed in intensity in the final quarter, but Éire Óg C.C’s tight defence and a late brace of points from Johnson earned victory and the title for Éire Óg C.C.
