On The Pitch
U9 Hurling Blitz
On Saturday there was great excitement as our U9 hurlers hosted their 1st ever blitz !
With teams travelling from Commercials, Kilmacud, Ratoath and Kiltale, there was a great atmosphere with 4 games on cross the pitches. Super skills from all players and great hosting as always from the U9 parents with tea , sandwiches and cakes served in the clubhouse afterwards.
A fantastic day to remember for our U9 players. Huge thanks to all the coaches for organising and the parents for the hospitality shown to our visiting teams.
U8 Hurling Blitz
Then on Sunday our U8 hurlers hosted their 2nd blitz of the year with St Judes, Confey and Ratoath travelling to Ardclough. Another day of great skills and new friends made.
Another lovely display of hospitality from the U8 parents who served tea and cakes to our travelling parents. So many compliments received from parents on both our facilities and the warm welcome they received.
Directly afterwards the U11 hurlers played a great game against Broadford and huge thanks to the team for helping finish off the buns from the blitz !! Always getting the hard jobs done !
U20 Camogie
Our U20s camogs got off to a solid start against Leixlip on Monday night finishing 3-6 to 2-9 – all square.
U16 Camogie D2 County Final
On Tuesday our U16 camogs played their heart outs with some fantastic skills in their division 2 county final. Unfortunately despite some great teamwork and fine skills they lost 3-5 to 1-5. We are so proud of them. It’s a great achievement to make a county final and while it didn’t go our way on the night, the team and coaches should be really proud of how they played and they fought to the end. It was great , as always to see the sideline packed with supporters for the girls.
U14 Hurling B Championship Final
Another big night for the club following on from our camogs on Tuesday, with our U14 hurlers playing in their county final against Maynooth in Naas. Fantastic match report from Simon below (we have a new job for him May ! ) And a lovely tribute from the team to dedicate their win to Noel O’Sullivan who we all still dearly miss. We know he would be so proud of them.
Ardclough started brightly, bursting into a six-point lead within the opening ten minutes thanks to sharp shooting and relentless pressure across the pitch. Maynooth gradually settled and struck back with a well-taken goal, leaving the sides finely balanced at the break — Ardclough 0–8, Maynooth 1–5.
Whatever was said in the dressing room clearly worked, as coach Aido’s half-time talk inspired a ruthless second-half performance. Ardclough dominated the exchanges, winning the key battles and converting their chances with confidence and composure.
A decisive goal from Ronan Duffy deep into the second half put Ardclough firmly in control, and they never looked back. The scoring was well spread, with Nathan Kelly (4 points — 2 frees, 2 ’65s), Eoin White (4 points), Adam O’Brien (4 points, 3 from play), and Oisín Sullivan (2 points) all on target.
Team captain Adam O’Brien led by example throughout and, in his victory speech, dedicated the win to Noel O’Sullivan, whose contribution to Ardclough hurling continues to inspire everyone in the club.
This was a complete team performance built on hard work, skill, and togetherness — the perfect ending to a brilliant season.
Final Score: Ardclough 1–14, Maynooth 1–5
Ardclough Scorers: Nathan Kelly 0–4 (2f, 2 ‘65s), Eoin White 0–4, Adam O’Brien 0–4 (3 from play), Oisín Sullivan 0–2, Ronan Duffy 1–0.
A lovely tribute from the team to dedicate their win to Noel O’Sullivan who we all still miss dearly. We know he would be so proud of them, just as we are. Enjoy the celebration lads , we know your coaches will !!! A great reward for both U14 teams , a first in Ardclough to have 2 teams with one winning the league in spring and the other one the championship , well done lads.
