Killard U-16 footballers have topped Group 2 of the ‘B’ Football Championship ahead of Balyna, Confey and Eadestown thanks to a six point win against Confey in the final group match.
Killard started slowly against a strong Confey side and were five points to no score behind after 15 minutes.
The amalgamation gathered themselves by half-time and narrowed the gap to two points, 0-06 to 0-04.
Confey started the second half well also and struck a great goal five minutes after the resumption.
That goal sparked Killard into life and they totally dominated the next 20 minutes, kicking 2-11 in the last 25 minutes, with Confey only managing two goals.
Some top class football was on view and Killard grew in confidence with every score.
Killard now go on to play in the Championship semi final.
