U-21 Hurling Championship Qtr Final
18th November @Conneff Park, Clane
Killard 2-08 Clane 1-08
Killard have claimed a spot in the U-21 Hurling Championship Semi-Finals after a two point victory over Clane at Conneff Park.
Clane’s good start had them 1-01 up before Martin Fitzgerald got Killard’s first score after 14 minutes, only for Clane to hit back with a point of their own immediately.
Fitzgerald was again involved in Killard’s next score, cutting through the Clane defence to hand off to Johnny Reeves, his hard shot was too much for the keeper, as he parried the shot over the line.
Killard tagged on two more points, one from a long range Sam Temple effort and the other a Fitzgerald free, to see them a point down at the break.
Half-Time
Clane 1-04 Killard 1-03
Clane continued to have a slight advantage over Killard in the second half and they exploited their long range scoring ability to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Bernard Daey and Ryan McGrath were two of Clane’s best performers and long balls into the Killard defence were how they preferred to attack.
Killard had made some positional changes however and were more than holding their own.
A second goal of the game for Johnny Reeves with 6 minutes to go saw Killard into the lead at a crucial stage, a lead they weren’t to relinquish.
They now face Naas away in the Semi-Finals.
