Straffard LGFA was founded in 2019, when Oliver Kelly (Ardclough) and Ruth Farrell (Straffan) launched an amalgamation between the neighbouring parishes to provide and promote ladies football to girls of all ages.
Having started with one team and 15 girls in 2019, the club has grown rapidly in 3 years and is now fielding teams at every age level from u7s to u16s, with over 180 registered players and over 30 coaches and mentors. Our teams are friendly, inclusive, hard working and committed to learning and displaying the skills of the LGFA to our highest capabilities. From u12 upwards games become competitive, but we maintain a focus on participation and inclusivity.
Already in our brief history we have had great successes in leagues and championships.
The roll call of wins from 2020 to 2022 includes:
2020:
u13s league winners
2021:
u13s league winners
2022:
u11s autumn league winners,
u13s spring league winners
u14s championship winners
u15 spring league winners
u16 championship winners
We are very hopeful that our LGFA club will continue to grow and thrive in the coming years! Straffard Abu!!
