North Ardclough 6-11
South Ardclough 3-12

Thanks to all who attended the Annual Paddy Cullen Memorial Charity Match on St. Stephen’s Day, in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation.

Fantastically, over €600 was raised on the day, and you can still donate in the clubhouse and online here: http://www.jackandjill.ie

On the field, in the wet and mucky conditions, it was the side North of the Bridge (or the Celbridge side) who defeated the South (or the Kill side) to deny them a five-in-a-row on the rainsoaked small pitch. Celbridge’s Timmy O’Sullivan was even let in to perform refereeing duties.

Over thirty players took part in all in the 11-a-side game and the menacing Niall Kearns, Barry Molloy, Declan Higgins and Andrew Whelan helped the South build up a comfortable first half lead.

But the North fought back in the second half, buoyed on by their secret addition of Patrick Maguire, recently back from Canada, to play alongside brothers Gearoid, recently back from Switzerland, and Ronan.

The North pulled away in the second half, helped by some saves by Piaras Ó Mídheach in goal and good work in defence by Seán Buggy and Niall Coulston.

And at the other the attacking play of Diarmuid Carr and Dylan Burke, added to the hat-trick scored by Gary Finneran was enough for the North to claim the title, and it was Captain Niall Coulston who was presented the trophy by Christina Cullen.

Thanks goes to everyone who played on the day, Timmy O’Sullivan for refereeing, those who attended, everyone who helped organise the match and the Cullen family.
