And we’ve made it ! Midterm break is here, and the cold weather arrived just in time – winter coats, hats and gloves at the ready for the last few games of the season. We felt every bit of the weather last weekend with many games cancelled due to rain on Sunday.

Lots going on as always around the club!

Senior Hurling Awards – Saturday

What a fantastic night Saturday was as we celebrated the successes of our adult hurling teams, promotion to division 1 and division 2 , and a win in the Minor 7-aside competition.

Our hurling chairman Ger Buggle welcomed everyone and acknowledged it was a successful year for the teams by winning the 2 leagues and retaining our senior status. Our chairman John Ryan spoke about the recent passing of Noel O’Sullivan who was greatly missed on the night. Richie Hoban was on hand to present the medals to the successful Minor 7-aside winners with Ger presenting medals to the D3 team and John presenting medals to D2 team.

A special presentation was made to Richie Hoban and Tim Ryan to acknowledge their part in the incredible win of the Joe McDonagh Cup by Kildare this year.

A very exciting 2026 ahead for Ardclough and Kildare!

All the paparazzi were on hand to get the right shot. We’re looking forward to seeing Bridie’s always fabulous photos and huge thanks to her for being there on the night.

ON THE PITCH

All adult fixtures are finished up while we wait for our U20 camogie and U23 St Edwards football leagues to begin.

Juvenile Teams

Our U10 footballers had a great game last Saturday the 18th against Maynooth, while our U8s had a break as Clane were unavailable.

The weather meant no game for our U7 hurlers but no such luck for our U16 footballers who braved the downpours in Hawkfield for their Shield Final. After a tough start, they won comprehensively against Leixlip. Great picture of joint captains Ethan Collins and Eoin Regan receiving the shield below.

With the rain passing over our U9 hurlers played two great games against Celbridge.

And our U11 hurlers played 2 cracking games against Naas.

On Sunday afternoon our U8 hurlers welcomed Commercials, Western Gaels and Coill Dubh to the club for a blitz. Great skills and friends made and a few goodie bags to finish up.

It was a mixed result for our camogie teams this week. Hard luck to our U14 camogie team who lost their shield final to Clane on Sunday and huge well done to our U16 team who beat Johnstownbridge/Cappagh team on Monday and they now play St Laurences on 4th November in Ardclough.

Our U11s had two cracking games against Straffan and Kilcock as they hosted their last Go Games blitz on Tuesday. Great skills and teamwork from all the girls

Also on Tuesday over on the main pitch, our U14 hurlers welcomed St Laurence’s in their B championship semifinal. A great game of hurling saw our team come away with the win and they now play Maynooth in the county final on November 8th . Huge well done to the team and coaches.

On Friday night our U12 hurlers played St Coca’s in the semi final of the A Championship , in a very tight and tense game, only 2 points separated the teams at the end , with our young hurlers showing great determination to come away with the win. They now play Naas in the county final on November 9th

To finish off a great week on the pitch our St Edwards U14s played two shield finals on Saturday.

Hard luck to our U14 H team who came up against a strong Celbridge side with 4 early goals for Celbridge crucial for them for the win. Our U14B team had a tough and close battle with Kill, with the two teams very even throughout the game, we eventually came away with a 3 point win.

Huge well done to the team and coaches. Picture below is captain Fionn Kelly accepting the shield for the team.
