We finally got the season underway this week with a great win for our footballers in the Dowling Cup, only to have to close the pitch again following the rain on Thursday & Friday.  And we didn’t make it to Barbados!

With a clear forecast ahead , hopefully that’s the end of the rain and we can get back to the sidelines.

Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Initiative

We are really excited as we reach the last week with our DEYLI participants for 25/26. Our participants will present their group project to their parents, families and club executive next Friday 27th. Having seen a trial run, the presentations are excellent and we have some very talented and amazing young people in our club.

Scór Sínsír – Bígí Linn – 13ú Márta – CLG Fhiodh Alúíne (Allenwood GAA)

Following our fantastic success in Scór na nÓg – we are looking for participants to take part in Scór Sínsír which is for those over 17.

Scór is a GAA competition that combines all the colour and rivalry of Gaelic Games with the social/fun element of Ireland’s traditional past-times. The competition was established by the GAA in 1969 with the aim of promoting Ireland’s traditional pastimes and culture while offering club members the chance to meet up, have fun and represent their club during the winter months while Football and Hurling had ceased.

There are eight events/disciplines in Scór that cover all aspects of Irish culture: Figure/Céilí Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation/Scéalaíocht, Nuachleas/Novelty Act, Instrumental Music, Set Dancing and Table Quiz. The competition is divided into two age levels, Scór na nÓg, for young people under 17 and Scór Sinsear, for those over 17.

Eagraítear Scór go dátheangach – i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla – agus fáiltítear roimh iontrálacha sa dá theanga.

Please get in touch with Elaine Dunne 087 665 0818 to take part

Fingers crossed we are over the worst of the rain and can get on with our leagues.

Fixtures

Our U16 & Minor St Edwards footballers are in action this weekend and during the week, with our U16 hurlers getting their league underway next Saturday.

Following our 2 point win on Wednesday against Rheban in the Dowling Cup first round, our footballers now play Athgarvan with the game on in Ardclough due to pitch closure in Athgarvan. All support welcome.

1968 Legends League – Wk 3

Our U9 & U8 hurlers played round 3 of their Legends League, amazing hurling going on each week to rival their team legends.

As well as hurling our players have had 3 challenges to test their Ardclough hurling knowledge !

In week 1 they completed a quiz , week 2 was a poster challenge for their legend – Tommy’s (Christian) Titans , Mick’s (Dwane) Mavericks , Bobby’s (Burke) Bucanneers and Richie’s (Cullen) Rockets , and this week they have to write a few lines about why they love playing hurling in Ardclough !

The final takes place next Sunday at 11am – followed by a presentation in the clubhouse at 12pm.

Noel Burke Cup 2026 – Round 3

Another morning of no rain ! It was the last of the group stages as we head to the Friday Night Lights final next Friday 27th February.

Tipperary played Kilkenny with the All Ireland champions losing out to Kilkenny – not the result our chairman would like to see :) Then in the second game of the afternoon Cork played Kildare – who finally put a stop to Cork’s undefeated run – hon the Lilllies !

The finals will be hotly contested and our own absolute legend himself Noel Burke will be on hand in the clubhouse on Friday to present all participants with a small token

Cup Final – Kilkenny v Cork

Shield Final – Kildare v Tipperary

All support welcome for these young hurlers – they have played absolutely fantastic hurling over the past 3 weeks – they are a hard working, never give up and incredibly skilled group of players – a credit to their coaches. Roll on Friday night !
